epic east coast road trip part 1-day two

day two was all about the museums. i wanted to see the holocaust museum, meghan and david- the air and space museum, and we all wanted to see the museum of american history. how can you pass up a chance to see those ruby red slippers?

it was raining that day and meghan was the only one smart enough to bring an umbrella but we did not let that dampen our spirits. we planned to head to the holocaust museum to get tickets for later that day and on the way to the museum, we just so happened to pass by the washington monument and sent david to see if he could get tickets to go up. i was doubtful they had any, but we lucked out and scored them for the perfect time.

i always love seeing pop culture and the things iconic to america. the american history museum never disappoints and i love seeing everything there. my favorites:
an old 5000 dollar bill

i don't think i had ever been to the top of the washington monument and if i have when i was younger, i remember nothing of it. this was incredible. the views were amazing with the fog rolling over the monuments and the history of the building was even more interesting to learn.

the holocaust museum is definitely one of the most somber experiences. the whole place is silent and full of respect. what a horrific thing to have happened.

lastly the air and space museum. we love this place so much. david especially who loves anything to do with airplanes. it was fun to walk around and learn about early aviation.

we met up with david's cousins (dave and erica) at the air and space museum and later went to dinner at the pie. of course we would find a pizza place with the same name in d.c. as our favorite here in salt lake. and it just so happened to be ultimate pie day (3.14.15) so that was awesome. it was delish. we also saw the j. edgar hoover fbi building, the navy memorial, and ford's theatre.

we took the metro into alexandria where dave and erica live and walked all around king's street. what an adorable quant little town. i was obsessed. it was such a fun place.
